In Loving Memory

Wrigley

Senior Golden

???? -  11/01/06

Wrigley, senior Golden, ??? - 11/01/06. Wrigley was quite a character. He somehow ended up as an unclaimed stray at a shelter. When his time was up at the shelter, he came to rescue. He already knew "sit", "down", "shake, "high five", and "speak." He enjoyed life and was an upbeat and active dog. He went to the Rainbow Bridge due to bloat.

Tanner (Tanny)

Senior Golden

???? -  11/04/06

I am sure you have heard the heart wrenching news about my Tanny. He went to the bridge on Nov. 4th. When I first read about Tanny, I thought a long time about adopting him, but I just couldn't resist the pictures of him. Even the first few weeks at home I wondered if I had made the right decision. After about two months he started to improve alot. He held his head up and could look up, he was walking better and doing his Tanner run. He would play with my other Goldens and he was beginning to put on weight which he needed to do. He had the true golden spirit. About 6 months ago, Tanny started to lose wt and he wasn't as active. He had trouble walking and would fall several times a day. My heart would break every time I watched him, but I couldn't bring myself to think that I would have to live everyday without my Tanner. My other Golden Bear had a doctor's appt and we took Tanny with us. He had lost more wt since his last visit and he could barely get up at the office. His vet and I talked about it and thought that maybe letting him go would be the best thing for him. I had a very heavy heart that day. I felt like I should have done something more, but Tanny was tired. He was a very dear boy to me and there will never be another golden like him. He was truly a wonder. Thank-you for letting me have the experience of Tanny in my life.

Carter

?? - 1/2/07

Carter came to rescue as an unclaimed stray whose time was up at a rural shelter.  He was a loving and gentle Golden.  When he was still in foster care, his foster home reported:  "His favorite thing is TOYS! His second favorite thing is treats, especially Old Mother Hubbard treats!  Carter can also entertain himself by tossing, bouncing and catching  toys and balls.  Carter is very smart and willing to learn,  particularly when a reward is involved.  He greets all friends and family who come to visit with his friendly tailwagging disposition. Carter follows his foster folks around and is a " shadow ", content to sit when we sit and go to bed on his own bed in the family bedroom where he sleeps all night.  When he finds his forever home, Carter will be a grateful, happy and loving companion."

Carter was lucky to find a wonderful family to adopt him and include him in their home.  Sadly he fell ill and lost the battle to what was likely liver cancer.   Although we are sad that he is gone so soon, we are glad that he spent his last months being loved and having a family to love.

Maple

App. 2002 - 1/09/07

Maple came to rescue when she was approximately 4 years old at the beginning of 2006.  She was a happy and active girl who had a deformed rear leg.  We were told that she had been hit by a car when she was a young dog and had orthopedic surgery at that time.  She was adopted in the spring of 2006 along with another Love A Golden foster girl, Victoria.  Maple and Victoria had lots of fun and love in their adoptive home.  Sadly Maple was diagnosed with bone cancer in her deformed leg and lost her battle with that disease only about ten months after her adoption.  She is very  much missed.

Shelby

07/97 - 03/07

Shelby came to rescue when her elderly owner passed away.  Shelby was a lively 5 year old Golden at the time and quite a character.  She found a family who loved her.  After being in her adoptive home for almost 4 years, she passed away in her sleep of what the vet thinks was likely a heart attack.  Her family says that she was happy and playful until the end and loved her walks.
